Richard Macwee
After my nephew took his own life on June 22, 2018 I was so devastated that I lost my artistic inspiration. After a couple of months of not being able to paint I decided to try to do a portrait of a golden retriever using colored pencils trying desperately to get back into my art. It wasn’t my best work, but it wasn’t horrible either so I decided to post it on Instagram. A wild life artist based in Scotland named Richard Macwee gave me the most beautiful and amazing compliment on my finished dog portrait. When I looked at Richard’s work I was completely blown away. I was in awe and couldn't believe his talent. He is a genius in realistic art and self taught which is even more impressive.
His attention to realistic details is impeccable. Richard, is truly a master in every medium. His medium of choice is pastels but he also paints and draws realistically. His work is so unbelievably beautiful that it inspired me so much and decided to try pastels. I love the medium so much that I created over 100 pastel pieces since 2019.
Richard’s work is breathtaking. I find his depiction of animals and nature, to be so unique. He is a gifted genius and illustrator in realistic art. I am always so fascinated how he captures the soul of the animals he paints and draws. The delicacy of his work is truly extraordinary and so inspiring.
He specializes in wildlife animals and nature, and he has worked very hard to create his own unique style which is so difficult for an artist to accomplish. His wildlife portraits reflects his commitment and concern for animal welfare and conservation. He inspired me so much to try depicting, wildlife portrait of animals and nature. It’s one of the subject I enjoy depicting the most. I’m so thankful for meeting Richard. He’s been God sent to me and I see him as one of my Earth angels. He has been unbelievably kind and supportive through the years and the best listener. His friendship truly means the world to me. He is truly a gift from the heavens in my life.
My dream is that one day we will be able to meet in person. We write to each other a little note every single day since the day we met. His caring nature is so unique these days and I’m very fortunate and blessed to have met him and call him one of my very best friends. The day we actually get to meet in person will be one of the best and memorable days of my life. As a Christmas gift in 2023 Richard sent me this extraordinary portrait of Akiane and me that he drew in graphite. I was completely blown away with this unexpected surprise. His depiction of us is absolutely incredible.
Another huge dream I have is that one day we get the opportunity to exhibit together. Here are some works of art that Richard ha done. You can follow Richard on Facebook and Instagram. I invite you to visit his website to read his full story and see his extraordinary art gallery. http://www.richardmacwee.com
